Passenger Air Bag Light Blinks

My 2006 Sierra 1500 4x4 has the automatic passenger side air bag so it picks up the person's weight and decides to be on or off. Even with someone in it or not in it, it blinks every minutes or longer. Its supposed to be dim but it brightens up after I am driving a for a few minutes and usually stays bright most the ride. Sometimes it goes back dim but not for long. I looked in the manual and did not find this in troubleshooting. Maybe I missed it but what does this mean? Its kind of distracting when you driving to have a bright yellow light come on in your rearview mirror. Thanks.
