35's On 3" Bl And Bilstein 5100's

I have been working on the truck for quite some time now and between work and family I finally found the time to get most of the work done today.

I was not in the market for these but a co-worker gave me a deal I really could not pass on. I planned to mount my 295/70/17's on the stock rims but after test fitting in the garage tonight I might just run the Mud Terrains. They are 35X12.50x17's on 17x9 Dick Cepek DC-1's.

The pictures are unsat and better ones will be posted in the morning after my test drive to see if these rub at full lock and compression. Every thing I have read says you can only run 35's with a 6" lift. I have 5"'s between the body lift and Bilsteins. Hope they work.

I can already tell you from teh pics its going to rub. With these trucks, it looks like it SHOULD clear but it doesnt.

It will clear decently, but backing out of parking spots its going to rub pretty good, even probably in full lock forward. It really rears its ugly head in parking lots. The other time its going to rub is if you are off camber or trying to turn in an off camber situation either incline or decline. It also might rub if you hit a bump during a high speed turning situation.

Other than that it will be fine. Its not unheard of for people to have to trim in order to clear 35's even with the 6" suspension lifts, and those kits even have a reduced turning radius and still rub at times.

The wheels are offset + far enough that they do not come close to the frame at lock parked. I planned on testing full lock situations that you mentioned tomorrow. Thanks for the pointers :uhoh: . If they do rub it is of no worries for me. I will just slap the 295's on and call it a day.

sure thing. It looks exactly like the amount of clearnace i had with 305/55/20s and just a 2" leveling kit. BUT obiviously backspacing could be different. Good luck man I hope they work out for you the tires look like the got some tread on em it would be nice to be able to run them. Im curious to see the end result.

After you mentioned that I went out and measured the tires. 14/32's left on the tread, 33.6 inches inflated to 35 psi. 35's ? :uhoh: What gives? My 295/70/17's are 33.2" un mounted.

i dunno its not uncommon for a 35 to be 34.5 but not 33.5! especially with that much tread left. Well look at it this way, little better chance they will clear! Thats about the same overall diameter as my 305/55/20s were and they are supposed to be 33s

BFG's are known to run on the small side.

Also remember, you lose about 1/2-3/4" of height with the weight of the truck on the tires. If you take them off they might measure around 34". Or measure the tire horizontally to get an idea of it's un-loaded diameter.

Well I took them out to the field today and sure as heck they rubbed in the ditches at the back of the front wheel well right at the lower edge (2nd push pin).

Would be fine just on the street........Will mount up the 295's and call it a day. Thanks for all the help.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
