Pulling Axle / Replacing Backing Plates

I need to replace the rear brakes and the backing plates and I'm wondering how difficult this is for someone (me) who has previously replaced brakes, installed a water pump etc. I've never pulled an axle, but from what the shop manual describes, it doesn't look too bad. Am I over my head on this? Advice and comments appreciated. Thanks.
