Xm Band?

Hello all, new to the group, and have a quick question.

I Recently purchased a pre-owned 2008 Sierra, and was under the impression that it had XM radio. I even checked the codes in the Glove box, and found the US8 that is supposed to indicate this capability. However, when I tried to switch to the XM Band it does not show up (Using Band Button). All I can get is AM/FM. Maybe I was mistaken on the capability, or maybe I'm stupid, but any light you could shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Then you don't have it in that unit.

open the glove box, empty it, look inside toward the top, push up on the little plastic piece that stops the glove box from opening any further. The glove box will open all the way and flip toward the floor (this is ok). now look in the cavity behind the glove box, if you have XM you will see the module with the XM logo on it mounted in there toward the right side. If it's there and the radio isn't detecting it, try checking the wires and antenna wire going to it to see if they came loose.

Haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but assuming it is not there (my luck; Ignorance) can I buy the tuner and put it in to work with the stock radio, and if so, where to look/buy and what is the gm part #?

I'm not 100% sure but I think the XM modules get Vin locked and can't be changed ?

Anyone know the part number, or where to get the tuner and component cables, could be XM or Sirius. having trouble locating either that are compatible with the 08.

the tuners are vin locked so they can't be swapped from another truck (so I'm told)

there is a kit to install it to the truck just like factory. Your dealer, GMpartsdirect.com or the XM website can point you in the right direction to get the kit.
