Disabling Auto Headlamps Gmt800

The issue is in canada this feature does not work and by doing something like this you are able to achieve this feature without hitting the dome button every time you start your truck. I mainly did it to save my HID when I use my car starter in the morning and I like being able to switch between manual and automatic.

Alright i might try it again but that is how i first had it set up and nothing would change. maybe the taps that i used weren't close enough to cut into the wire on the truck. i was using the blue ones so i might have to try the next size smaller which is yellow i believe

I used the yellow one when I did it so you might be right about the blue taps not cutting into the wire properly.

Yeah its the canada issue with no being able to overide the drl. I'll try to pick up some yellow connectors tomorrow and maybe give it a try. The order of the switch then resistor wouldn't affect the outcome would it? Like the way you had it drawn up?

No it does not matter where the switch is located. If you do try it again. when you test it put a sheet or something over the photo sensor and let the headlights come on. Once they are on flip the switch you have installed and wait about 30sec for the headlights to go off and the DRL to turn on.

On my 03 I have the turn knob next to the cargo light and dome override that I turn backwards to the O position and it shuts my lights off completely. DRL and all. If I put the truck in gear only the DRL will kick on.

99 to 02 only have a 3 position switch. O is basically auto, parking lights and headlights

Would a 03 switch work on the 99-02? I would imagine some junk yards would have a few around and the connectors should be similar. Don't quote me but this is a shot in the dark...

Unfortunately not. I bought a switch from the junk yard before I did this mod and the connector was different. I wired a connector up that worked with my truck but when I tried the switch it did not work.

OOPS. Somehow I distracted myself in the DRL direction. Sorry about that. So, here's the other circuit you need for that. Same principle except you want the C2 plug-pin A11 (white wire). The switch will provide a way to open the circuit and your auto headlights will not work. Close the circuit and they'll work normally. Your dash light switch will still work like normal.

Has anybody tried this method? And does this method work? Seems a bit easier then using a resistor.
