My Truck Is Going In For Warranty Work For Leaks.

My 2007 GMC Sierra Classic just sprouted a few problems. I noticed engine coolant leaking in the driveway along with transmission fluid the other day. I looked up underneath and couldn't really tell where the coolant was coming from, just dripping onto the skid plate. The transmission pan bolt area looked soaked all around. I took it to my GM dealer for an inspection sticker and had him look it over. After a quick inspection he seems to think it's the water pump and the transmission pan gasket. He also notice the tail shaft seal on the transfer case was wet so he suggested that be replaced also. He said everything is covered under warranty as I have only 56K miles on the truck. I asked him to change the transmision filter while he was in there, at my cost naturally.

 

My question is, does all of this sound like we're going down the right path, or should I suggest other possibilities for him to check. I've owned quite a few trucks in the past and don't ever remember the transmission pan gasket leaking in this short of time. And as the technician wasn't sure of where the coolant leak was coming from, could it be something more than just the water pump? Maybe a pressure test to make sure while the engine is running? The tail shaft seal is a no brainer.

 

My truck goes in on Thursday. One more question. Does AC/Delco make new water pumps or remans? I'm asking this because that's what the parts room guy told me was what he stocked for warranty work.

Sounds to me like you have a dealer that is on the ball. I'd take it in and let them do what they do.

 

Hopefully this will mean no return trips!
