shaners i know you pull a large camper this question in pretty much for anyone. im considering helper springs for my truck. today i went and hooked up my camper without the weight distribution. and measured how far my rear end sank down. it went down approx 3 1/2 inches. of course with weight distrubution it will go back up. i beleive you have a 2500 pick up. do you mind checking to see how far your truck goes down with the tongue weight w/o weight distribution on?

I have approx 1000 lbs of tounge wt on my travel trailer.  It sets the truck firmly on the helper springs but not much further.  I'm guessing about 3" of sag.

I need a longer bar to tighten up the torsion bars because it's a b1tch to conecct them if I have the full weight of the trailer on the ball.  Therefore I normally connect the bars before I remove all the weight off the tounge jack and vica versa when I unhook.
