Tire/lift Questions

i really happen to like the look of the stock HD rims that were used from like 00' - 07' or 08' but i would like to run a 315/75/16 on stock rims without any trouble... are there any aftermarket enlarged versions of the stock Chev/GMC rims so i can fit these without any rim issues. also i would like to know what the Best Method and also the Cheapest method to lift the truck just enough to fit these tires, because again i really like the stock look where the tire still almost totally sits in the wheel well. also would i still be able to plow with a slight lift and these tires? would i have to modify the plow mount? i am also considering maybe 285/75/16s but in that case i would still like to lift the front a little so there wont be any rubbing. right now i have 265s and am still able to get the plow on easily and its no problem, but i hate how droopy the front end is and the 265s still look kinda small just like the 245s did.

your not gonna get 315,s on the 16x6.5 oem rims..the 285,s is pushing it, just do a 2 or 3" block in the rear and do new keys adjusted in the front.. i definitly wouldnt go more than 285/75/16 or 295/75/16 on the oem rims..

ive ran 305/70's on stock 16's, i wouldnt go any further than that. thats a little shorter than a 285 but wider.

No. That's a 34.5" tall tire that is over 12" wide. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 285/75/16.

no offense but a 305/70 R16 is actually the exact same height as a 285/75/16 and its 12 inches wide. but my expeirence with 285s is they sat higher than the 305's just skinnier. a 305 is a metric 33x12.5r16, you can run them...i did no issues. look and see

all those sizes are like computer generated, tire sizes can be a little different. ive always put a tape measure up to tires once they are mounted. i had 285 cooper discoverer STT's and they sat at 34" at recommended psi if i remember correctly, the pro-comp(junk) 305s sat just under 33". the tires i have now are supposed to be 33's but they arent, they sat at like 33.5" when they were brand new. (at running psi)

the only problem is trying to find a tire shop that will do it for you, gotta know somebody. and you might need wheel spacers to clear the upper control arm....

I never said anything about 305/70/16s. I was referring to the tire size the OP is talking about, 315/75/16.

a block in the rear? but Most all including my truck has a droopy front end with the rear sky high. so what do i do if i want to level out the truck in the front. im sure the rear ones will fit just fine but im kinda worried about them fitting in the droopy front wheel wells. also would i still be able to plow with a 2-3" raise in the front and larger tires?

What he was referring to was installing new torsion keys in the front and blocks in the rear. By installing a leveling kit in the front you can get 1.5-2" of lift in the front for some more clearance. Then you would have the option of installing some taller rear blocks for a little more lift in the rear. This would give your truck some more height front and rear but still keep some rake in it. You would still be able to plow with this. I would raise the front up 1.5-2", throw some 285s on, hook up the plow and get to work. Don't try and go any bigger with your tires than that, especially if your gunna be plowing.

gotcha... um i think id keep the rear as is cause it is already much higher than the front and will easily fit 285s im sure of that. is there anything more secure than torsion keys/bars in the front cause i know of alot of people who complain about retorquing their torsion bars.... and also i hear 285/75/16 and a 255/85/16s are very similar but would anyone happen to have some pics where i could compare the two and see which i like better. cause im not one for a REALLY wide tire.... but then again i wouldnt like a REALLY skinny tire either

Not really sure what you mean by something more secure than torsion keys. Your truck already has torsion keys. I installed Rough Country torsion keys on my 1500 and shocks for 2" of lift, but I only raised up the front around 1.5". Look for a leveling kit that will give you 1.5-2" of lift or just crank your Tbars. Either way, make sure you get an alignment afterwards.

you can get thos 315s on the ls rims but they look ridiculous, a couple guys i know did it, it looked so bad, i wish i could get a lil bigger that 285s on since i have those rims but that should be plenty and still have the truck be useful to me, i dont want to have to get a tow motor everytime i got to put something in the bed

sorry i guess what i ment was a more detailed lift like the kinds of lifts where you spend like 600+ to get the whole truck 6" higher, but something that just concerns the front end and like you said 1.5-2" i mean i think i could just do a spacer or something or i could go all out and install a more advanced front end lift. sorry if im being unclear its just i havent really looked into lifting much for the truck and i dont really know whats out there besides spacers and new Tbars/Keys

lol yeah i think ive seen a few trucks with the 315s on those stock LS rims which i also have... i thought it looked pretty sick in my opinion but who knows.... and haha that would suck if you had to get a tow motor every time you wanted to put something in the bed. thats why im not too interested in getting the rear up any higher.
