How Often For An Alignment?

How often should i be getting an alignment? i'm at 111k miles on the factory suspension and often times drive on crap roads rittled with patch jobs that helen keller could do better and terrible bumps from the road warping from over sized loads, its also to detect wandering in my steering because the roads are crowned pretty bad and my truck is easily swayed by the wind..i'm trying to make these tires and suspension last and i assume driving on a misaligned suspension damages it...so the question is, how often do i need to get every checked/aligned?

thats all on your truck....... i had a 04 f150 fx4 and that sucker always stayed aligned no matter what. my sierra now is out of whack just a little every couple of months. If i were you..... and you have a NTB close by, I would go buy the year or 3 year alignment deal. I bought the 1 year and take it in once a month lol i may be a pain to them but thats what i payed for. unlimited alignments for only $129

mine goes to the dealer for everything, we don't have any of the business you named here..its all tires plus and firestone, both being shady and unreliable i avoid them like the plague...i don't ever offroad or go curb jumping, just road driving on shit roads lol

I go by what ever my tires are telling me. If they are wearing fine then no need to align. Our 08 Acaida has 68k on it and the tires are wearing fine and has never been aligned since we bought it. My 02 silverado has been aligned once and it has 99k on it.

I go to a shop here that is family run and has been in business for 40yrs and only open on the week days. They are the best around here. I took my 65 impala in for an alignment and they said it needed an idler arm to take it and change it out and bring it back for adjustment. So I took it home replace the idler arm and took it back. The day I took it back to get another appointment they jumped in it, took it in and adjusted the alignment and I was good to go, no extra charge. That is my kind of service. You just can't find it in a big chain store tire shop.

As needed. That is, only if the inside of the front tires or the outside of the front tires are wearing prematurely, of if the vehicle is not tracking correctly (pulling to one side).

Anytime you have any front end parts changed, whenever there is odd tire wear, otherwise I would do it every 100,000km. Maybe one out of every 20 alignments I do are within range. So most care will benifit from it. Fuel economy, tire wear, ride.... Just make sure that if your paying to have it done that really doing a good alignment. Not just what called "a toe and go" A lot of places won't spend the time to adjust castor and camber, they just adjust toe so the steering wheel is straight and send it on its way..... Always ask for a copy of the alignment report. Just makes sure you get what you paid for.

With that many miles, it wouldn't hurt to have the front end checked and aligned. Definitely have any worn parts replaced and do an alignment when replacing tires. Alignment is cheap and tires are relatively expensive.

got new tires an alignment towards a few months go...said everything in the front end was tight

No. The killer is pulling into parking lots and hitting the curb, with the wheels turned. That can tweak a wheel in causing you issues with alignment.

with or without fat chicks in the bed?

fat chicks are only good for bouncing trucks to get them traction in muddy environments...they are not recommended for city driving because they decrease the gas mileage
