Help Me Please

Ok I have a 2008 gmc sierra and it does not have the bose system in it. So my questions is it worth buyin the bose amp and the speakers or just getting aftermarket speakers and amp? The only reason why i am looking at getting into the bose system is for the stock nav head unit i want to install. PLease advise.

+1 go with aftermarket amp and sub. bose is too much money and not worth the hassle. you can still install a factory nav unit without the bose

+1 go with aftermarket everything including the nav. There are a lot of nice Double Din Navigation units on the market now. Look at Pioneer Avic series. I have a Kenwood though and it is nice as well.

Keep in mind none of the stock head units require Bose to operate. It can all be changed in the programming.

If you could find it in a salvage, it would be worth it. I think the bose sounds really good. JMO.

 

Otherwise, an after market might be the best way to go for cost.

If you take it to a dealer, he can program it to the specific SPI codes for your truck which include your speaker options. Only problem is a lot of dealers don't know how to do this, and aren't very interested in learning. When you are getting a unit installed, do yourself a favor and call dealerships until you find one that knows what they are doing on the install. I've had people buy units from me and take them to 3-4 dealerships before they find one that could do it right.
