Key Fob

Can anyone tell me where the sensor is hat the key fob "talks" to? Sometimes I cannot get my fob to work. I can be right up at the truck and it still will not work. I wend to Oreilly and checked my fob on their key fob battery checker and it shows it works fine. Any suggestions?

I don't know what the problem would be, but I can tell you where the receiver is, you have to pull the dash bezel off and the cluster out and you'll see it stuck to the underside of the dash kinda to the right of where the cluster was. IIRC, it had some orange and black wires hooked to it, I pulled mine out when I installed my remote start. But, still if you haven't replaced the battery that's where I'd start, I mean a five dollar battery won't loose you much, and that thing at oreilly's is questionable when you're right there on it.

Try reprogramming it to the car. I think on that one you hold the lock and unlock at the same time until the vehicle beeps. I'm not sure if thats the right one for your truck but give it a try. Or google it

I replaced the battery and re-synced it to my truck. I even tried the other clicker and the same thing is happening.

 

I just had my cluster out and I do not remember seeing a box after removing. I wonder if someone can post a pic of what the box looks like or if it might have some identifying marks on it?

 

Is there a way that this receiver can get weak enough to be replaced?

It looks like you can re-sync by holding the lock and unlock for 7 seconds if you are within 5 feet of the truck. The other thing you could try is this:

 

Method 1 - No Tools Required, Program All Transmitters

 

Important: All transmitters which are to be recognized by the PDM must be programmed in a single programming sequence. When using this program method, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter.

The order in which the transmitters are programmed will determine its numbering position within the PDM memory. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and the second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. The number stamped on the transmitter case is for reference only; #2 can be programmed as #1, or vice versa. Additional unnumbered transmitters are also available.

 

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.

3. Press and hold the door unlock switch.

4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.

5. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.

6. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.

7. Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.

8. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.

9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
