Banging Into Gear?

Recommended Posts

I have an issue where if i slow down and turn into a coast and get back onto the gas, sometimes a get a quick bang like its slamming into gear or something...is this the yoke or the trans? harmful?

From what i've read its the yoke, I have the same issue with my truck. If its not a yoke issue I'd like to know what it is from someone as well. Nearing my 36k. But TBH I've been unhappy with my truck lately, the ride quality is worse then my friends colorado.

more thasn likely the yoke. its apparantly common on our trucks. i have something similar when i start from a dead stop i feel a thud and if im accelerating gently ill feel a thud as she takes second on occasion aswell. one of the guys on here mentioned there was a tsb about it. can someone post it so that those of us with gmt 800 trucks can visit the dealer for the service. i tried to look for it last night but i swear im google stupid and couldnt find it.

Try the search topic at bottom of page, try yoke for the search word. many threads will come up plus a DIY with pics... (teaching to fish)

mine bangs too, think it wants to be a porn star. I have not yet pulled the driveshaft out and lubed it up at the tranny. There is a real nice writeup on here, read it just the other day.

mine already is a adult film star, thanks for the replys guys i just wanted to make sure indeed it is the slip yoke causeing that banging into gear, i don't get it really from starting from a dead stop, accept when going into gear..or coasting then hitting the pedal

Thats exactly what mine does, like when you let off for a red light and it turns green before you stop and you hit the gas at like 10 mph and BANG! Ron Jeremy is destroying something. It will do it every time, I've just accepted it as I don't believe it causes any damage, just the noise. I couldn't find that writeup when I looked now that I was thinking of, it may have been on the denali forum. However, I did find this one: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...671&hl=yoke
