02 1500 Clunking Noise From Frontend

i have an 02 chevy 1500 extended cab 4x4. it has a really bad clunking noise coming from the front. i can feel it under my feet and under the seat. it gets worse when i'm pulling a heavy trailer. i think its coming from the left front suspension and travelling through the torsion bar, but i'm not sure. if this has been discussed on here, please point me in the direction. thanks, Tanner

When does it clunk? All the time while driving? On starts or stops?

Obvious things to check:

wheel bearing

Ball joints

control arm bushings

tie rods

Pittman arm

idler arm

intermediate steering shaft

i was thinking the same thing on the torsion bar being the problem. but i was looking at it to see if the lower control arm bushings were bad, and that noise was travelling back through the torsion bar. i'm going to tear into it tomorrow.

if the torsion bar is the problem, how do i tell if it's bad?

thanks, Tanner
