Truck Misses When Warm

My 99 Silverado (6.0L 4wd) misses after warmed up. I primarily notice it under load (high gear going up a hill), it is fine when it down shifts.... It sometime occurs when the engine is warm, start the truck and try to pull away. then it goes away as i go through the gears..till I am back under load in high gear....

there are no messages in the message window.....Could there still be diagnostic codes to be read by an OBDII reader even if there are no messages (or idiot lights)?
