Reinstalling Factory Hu

I had an Eclispe CD8051 installed back in 2002. After a recent early morning, running late, deer hunt coffee spill I find it not working. I am considering putting the factory HU back in until I have time to reconsider what to do next...the nav units look good. Could I be so fortunate as to simple plug and play or would there have been a lot of custom wiring done when the Eclispe was installed? Getting the HU out seems pretty easy, it is the wiring that could be a problem.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

If they put it in with the adapters like they should have it's just a simple snap here and one there. If they cut up your wires, then it'll be harder. A truck model year would also help, 99 obs or nbs. or the 02.

what he said. if they used a wiring harness its plug and play, very easy. if they cut up the wires like i did becasue im a cheap ass, then its gonna be a pain. i take it your trucks are both GMT-800's. if so, the headunit is very very easy to remove and you could just go buy another decent headunit for $100 and plug it in

Thanks for the quick replies - yes, they are both GMT-800's. I had both truck's sound systems professionally installed but did take a Pioneer AVIC out of the 99 to send in to Pioneer for repair/update several years ago. Getting it out was easy and looks to be the same process on the 02HD. Other than that I have simply enjoyed until now. I suppose I won't know until I take it out whether they used a harness. Another question is how much trouble am I going to have with the amps and subs going back to factory HU?

The subs won't hook up to the stock hu without a low line conversion, your aftermarket unit has rca outs on it, but not the stock. I'd just get another aftermarket unit if you have subs, mine didn't cost me but 100 dollars and I love it.
