Some Photos Of New Mod And Snow

Well today of all days (snowing and freezing) I have to change my oil. I decided to go ahead and install the Airraid Intake tube that has been sitting in my garage for the past 6 weeks. Install was pretty simple. Few handtools and 20 min later I got this. Much better than the old stock setup, much cleaner. Now to log some data and send off for a tune update :P

Yea I left the stock airbox (have a K&N filter already)

Noise? While it was running no, moved the truck about 15 ft out of the garage into the driveway so I cant really comment on this yet. Not going out for a little while. I already rinsed the salt/sand mix off after going out this morning :P

How flexible does that rubber joint to the airbox feel? I've always wondered why the aftermarket ones don't have a flex portion like the stock setup, it would seem to me that it would need to be there to allow the engine to move without dislodging the connection. I've seen that problem before many times on cars, would think it would be worse on a bigger engine.

I've been wanting one, if anything just because of the cleaner look.

It matters how the intake tube looks? I will not buy one if that is the advantage. Although, I hear those chrome gas doors make a truck 2 seconds faster in the quarter. :P

I have a Volant and the rubber piece that connects the tube to the intake box is MORE than flexible enough to accompany the engine movement unless the engine jumps off the mounts and out of the engine compartment.

You can see it in the first picture in this thread.

Thanks for the info, that's the only reason why I haven't ordered one yet. That and I could have sworn I saw on here somewhere that a guy had one and he said the slightest knock would dislodge it. Not sure if it was installed unproperly or what but made me weary. It's hard to tell from the pics just how flexible that joint would be, but I'm glad to hear that.

This definitely gives more airflow. You should see the small hole the air goes through into the TB. I will take the picture off my phone and post. Its pretty pathetic I cant believe these engines get any air.

The silicone joint to the MAF is flexible and won't stiffen up due to temp changes. If your engine is rocking enough to disconnect anything, get that truck to your mechanic ASAP or have it towed!

I've seen that stuff in movies many times. They get a big machine and spray soap suds everywhere :P
