Got under my truck today to do the 1st oil change. It's got an oil leak from somewhere :D . Noticed oil on the inspection cover. Looks like a rear seal :help: 7300 miles.

Needless to say I didn't change the oil. Going to dealer 1st thing in morning. Will update after findings.

My 08 developed a leak at the tranny input shaft seal earlier this year. At first I didn't pay a lot of attention to is as it was just a drop on the inspection cover. Then it started to leave a small puddle on the driveway.

Fortunately, it was covered under warranty and I also got some PCM updates added as part of the work. Even picked up 1.5 MPG :D

I had some what looked like oil too on the chrome steel plug on the bottom of the bellhousing. I wiped it off for the first couple oil changes. This last time I took it out and cleaned it real good. The oil seemed thicker than engine oil, maybe an assembly lube? Anyway it hasn't seemed to come back yet. I will keep checking though.

so your truck has 7300 mile on it and youre doing your own oil changes? im not sure about your dealer but mine told me with my extended warranty i had to keep receipts for the garages that did them otherwise id void that part of the warranty. just thought id give you a heads up just to keep your warranty in tact :D

as for a leak, bring it in let them take care of it for you, thats what warranty is for :help:

There is nothing that says you cant do your own oil changes. I have 11K and have done all mine. Did one on Saturday.

I am sorry but your dealer is full of you know

maybe its just the aftermarket warranty then, and any other warranty ive had for any gm vehicles, they were pretty clear saying if you blopw your motor and you dont have documented oil changes we wont cover you. lol. thats gm canada though so who knows

they can refuse oil changes if you do not have proof of oil changes, proof being as little as a slip saying you bought oil. nothen wrong with doing your own oil changes but save the slips and document your maintance....its better to be safe then sorry

i had an oil leak in my Camaro (6.2L) .....i thought i was totally screwed. After further inspection...it was found to be a leak in the oil cooler line.....there is a shitty gasket in there and it is a known problem on the gm 6.2's

My 6.2 had oil weeping from the rear seal during my first oil change at 4,000. Wiped it clean. Just did 2nd change at 9,000...bone dry. Not enough of an issue for me to take it back to the dealer. When I first saw it at 4,000 I was in rage. I shortly after thought to myself, meh, nothing I own will ever be perfect, no matter what I do. This is my first new vehicle too. I give up GM, I give up.

My 6.2L puked a crap load of oil out from the dipstick tube (where it meets the block).

If you grab the dipstick, and yank forward, it can pull the tube out of the block, causing it to leak there. I put it back in, tightened the single bolt that holds that giant thing, and never had a problem since. I do hold the dipstick tube with one hand, and yank the dipstick with the other to prevent that from happening again.....

That's how most dipsticks are. They just pop in and a single bolt into the head or block to keep it steady. I've never had an issue with one.

Its a moving machine manufactured in a factory producing thousands, nothing is perfect thats why GM backs you up with a warrenty :)

Sems to be a common problem. Your dealer should have plenty of experience fixing it so no worries. Had the same problem at 30k km's.
