black05silveradoLT Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I have a 05 crewcab silverado z71 Id like to be able to fit 285s or 33s under it, I have been looking at the rough country leveling kit and looking into just cranking my stock keys. would my truck be able to fit 33 by cranking the stock keys?
Stevens03 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Yes, You can crank on your stock bars for about 2" of lift, but I wouldn't recommend going past that. There's been alot of people that use the re-indexed keys and have issues down the road. There's not much in way of "leveling" kits for the GMT-800's since they use torsion bars. Easiest way is to lift the truck from the center about 4-5" to take some of the pressure off, then crank the bolts. It's an 18mm bolt on each torsion bar and be sure to crank both equally. Set it down, and remeasure. Be sure to get an alignment afterward. And welcome to the site!
black05silveradoLT Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 thanks man do you think I would have any problems with the 33s rubbing?
Stevens03 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Nope Every time manufacturer's actual size is a little different. Most 285's would fit perfect.
black05silveradoLT Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 good deal thanks for the help man
