Shouldn't Seat Heaters Come On With Remote Start?

Last couple nights before I leave for work, I use the remote start. I get into the truck and fans are on and although seat heater lights are on full strength, the seats aren't warm. I put the key in the ignition, turn the key, seat heater lights go off. I then need to push the button to really turn them on. Is this the way the remote start is supposed to work?

Yes. It does take a bit though for me to feel the heat when you first get in.. how long is it running beforehand?

*Edited for a more accurate description lol

5 min. or so. That should be more than enough. When I get in and turn the ignition, I can feel the heat in less than 10 sec.

I think the problem lies in the weight sensor in the seat, the seats will not start warming up until you sit on them.

that makes sense, but how stuipd of a design is that? Part of the point of remote start, at least for cold weather folks is to warm the truck up. This should include the seat warmers. Also noticed the fan used to be on "high" when using remote, but now it's at whatever setting it was last used at.

In my '07, the heated seats come on automatically when I remote start the truck. And the HVAC will set itself on AUTO.

Once I put the key in and turn, the seats will go off (and thus need to be manually turned on), and the HVAC will go to what-ever mode I had it in before I turned off the truck.

And the seats are warm. especially nice as it takes forever for the diesel to warm up.

Well, what temp is it outside, if it's cold enough the heat should be on auto and and the fan will adjust speed accordingly.

temp is about 20F. Are you saying I should leave the heater in "Auto" mode or the truck will adjust to auto when using remote?

My 09 LTZ does the same thing. I think its more of the "heating pad" principle. They dont really warm up til you put your body heat up against them.... ???

I don't believe the heaters come on until you unlock the doors.

that doesn't make much sense either. read the owners manual and all it says is that heater/fan and seats will come on. doesn't say anything about having to unlock doors.
