are you talking about these ?

I cant imagine the door sheetmetal is any different on an 06 to an 04

Yea those are the mirrors I was talkin about. I ended up just getting power/heated mirrors even though I wont be able to use those features. I have manual non power mirrors now I just like the added visability on that year of tow mirror

If you had power/heated mirrors originally or not on a 2500HD - I wouldn't be surprised to find the connections for power/heat already in your wiring harness. {as long as the used mirrors you got came with all the wires intact}.

I'd do a little more research...

i guess i should have been more specific. mirrors from an 07 classic (GMT800) should fit, but not an 07+ NNBS (GMT900)

I apologize for the late response on this forum topic, but I used to work for GM as an electrical diagnostics technician and am very familiar with the mirror upgrades. All of the door mirrors on any GM truck will interchange in that era of truck. The connections will be on the backside of the door window switches and will plug in with no issue, assuming you have power windows, which was a standard option on every truck except W/T's. Although the plugs will be there for you to hook up, the Body Control Module will not recognize a signal for these upgraded mirrors until you have the BCM reprogrammed. It is a simple process and can be done at your local dealer for usually an hour of labor. I am actually planning on upgrading the mirrors on my truck from simple power mirrors to the LT version mirrors with the turn signal. This will also require a trip to see my buddies and get a freebie. Hope this info helps!

Hi Jon:

I have a 05 2500HD - with the power towing mirrors and turn signals etc.

DL3=Mirrors, outside heated power-adjustable, power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming, Black

When I put the transmission in reverse - the glass mirrors automatically tilt down and in {so I can see the rear body and ground} - is that what is called "power folding"? {The mirrors sure don't fold flush with the body}

When I put the transmission in Drive, they "seem to attempt to return to their original position" - - - but they never do.. they seem to get stuck and stop.. I can however readjust them with the door mounted switch.

Is this usually a problem with the electronics/memory OR is this usually a mechanical problem - like the cables needing cleaning/lubrication etc.? I'd like to get them working properly as it is a PIA to have to readjust the mirrors every time I back up.

Advice/Tips???

thanks,

Carl

I have these same mirrors and in the DIC you can turn off the tilt down feature when you put it in reverse. Also to get the mirrors to fold in to the truck you put the mirror selector lever in the middle and then push the right side of the adjuster pad down for a few seconds, then the opposite side to fold back out. Hopefully this helps you a little bit. Worst case i'll sell you mine when i get a set of the new towing mirrors.

Jon, you probably know the answer to my question as well.  I've swapped the DPF mirrors on my '05 Yukon XL for DL3 mirrors.  I can manually power fold them and from what I've read so far, it looks like getting the BCM programmed will make the folding automatic (including adjusting the mirror glass so it doesn't interfere with the folding).  I intend to keep the DPF mirrors as I have an enclosed car trailer but I rarely use the trailer and would only put the DPF mirrors back on when I'm using it.  If I have the BCM programmed for the DL3 mirrors, what will happen when I put the DPF mirrors on?  I'm wondering if pressing the extend/unfold switch will run the DPF mirrors to the furthest out position (with a single press) and whether or not the extend motor on the DPF mirrors will continue to run.  With the DPF mirrors on the truck, the extend wasn't synchronized between the left and right mirrors and I had to hold the switch to let the right extend while the left mirror motor freewheeled at the end of its travel.
