Need some help here. I need to replace the bump stop thingamajiggies under the Tahoe. They are the little rubber stoppers that keep the frame from bottoming out on the suspension. The problem is I don't know what they are called. I tried a search, but it's kinda hard when you don't know what you are searching for.

Are you talking about those thingamajigs that are like 3 rubber rings stacked shaped like a cone under the rear axle looks like they'd stop the axel from bottoming out if the shocks/leafs failed?

Did some research today and found out there are as many namesfor these things as there are days in a week. I've heard jounce bumpers, frame bumpers, control arm bumpers, bump stops and a couple of more I don't recall. However, I did call the dealership to get a part number. They are about $23 each from the dealer. I also found them at RMS for about $18 each.

I have the PN written down at work, but if I recall it was 15153829. I will have to double-check tomorrow. I also saw where that PN was superseded by 17161761. Again, I need to check those numbers tomorrow.

Wow! My memory just isn't what it used to be. The CORRECT part numbers are 15153958 and 15161761. I read in a couple of places that that the second PN supersedes the first one, this according to GM Parts Direct.

I found pics of both at RMS and they look slightly different. I think the 15161761 PN might be for the 3/4 ton or 4x4 or maybe the autoride suspension.

Also known as pinion snubbers.

A pinion snubber is in place over top of the pinion area of the rear diff to keep the rear axle wrap

down during heavy acceleration. Used mostly on cars only and more specifically, they were factory installed

on a lot of the musclecar era of Mopars.
