Tire Chains

I need to get some chains for the truck since I live on the edge of the Sierras. What brands have you guys had good (or bad) luck with?

I ordered from these guys when I bought this current truck about 3 years ago and needed a larger size.... they provided great service, great delivery time ... no problems...

I have always owned V-Bar style chains (going back over 40 years) ... scroll down the page to see the description of V-Bar and then a little farther down the page to see your tire size...

so I have this bright colored brand new pair of chains in a pail in the back of my truck all the time in winter ... just in case I need them ... some of my friends laugh at me for owning these things and actually knowing how to put them on ... but we all know who will NOT be laughing when they get stuck in some deep wet snow drift ... or out on the highway somewhere and the highway patrol says NO GO without chains ....

I would suggest the same website but I use the Diamond Quick Fit chains. I've been using that type for about 15 years and never had a problem with them.

Highway patrol in Saskatchewan? Since when?? Sorry, I couldn't resist, I'm from Saskatoon years ago. I have my chains in the back of my truck as well.

I carry chains with me all the time and use them a lot (relativly). I would suggest medium/heavy duty twist link. IDK what the Sierras are like, you may want the V-bar if you are in a lot of solid ice. I use a set of pro-grade chains that came from my work years ago. They are heavy duty parrallel/ladder design twist link. They are a little much for the highway but great for any sticky situation on or off-road.

The website mentioned above is pretty cool. It has a good application chart. With that though. My brother bought a set of medium duty, twist link, ladder style chains (In a Blue Box) from wal-mart 2 years ago and they are very nice. Just as heavy as mine and a good strong design. I was with him using them in the last couple weeks. I would recommend them to anyone, except maybe an Ice Road Trucker.

I am thinking the medium duty twist would work for me. They would mainly be for if the man ever said I had to have some with me, or if I want to go play in the snow. I doubt I would use them very heavily.
