Electric Cooling Fan Upgrade

I have been considering changing out the cooling fan to an electric setup. Flex lite offers a decent setup but at a high price. I would like to know if anyone has added one to an 8.1l? Any concerns? I have noticed several people have used fans from an F Body as a direct drop in for the 5.3l. The 8.1 has a larger radiator and I am not sure what if any GM fan would work. Mainly, I think the A/C doesn't cool well at first start up and stuck in traffic. Also, any increase in fuel economy would be great....I know the last one is kind of a joke . Any suggestions or possibly sharing your personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

try a wrecking yard for a 05+ SS or any 6-6.2L trucks may fit. if you do, take the hole harness up into the fuse box..it may take a little longer to remove due to the harness is with the head light harness also. should be plug/play after the PCM retune for the fans.. you should pick up about 10 HP and a little MPG gain.

providing your radiator is the same as a 6.0HD, the fans from any 05+ 1500 will work. from there, you just need a harness, bolts to bolt the fans down to the truck, and some minor tuning to make the setup work.

 

if your rad is different from a 6.0HD, i don't know.

I believe the rads are already the bigger of the two, on 2500's regardless of them being in a burb/hoe or truck. Dont quote me but I remember seeing that somewhere back when I was going to do that swap. I was told to buy the 34" rad and fans from an 05 up 1500. but it turned out I would only need the fans and harness to get to the pcm
