Radio Controls

I have a 2010 Silverado LT with cruise control on the steering wheel. I have been trying to figure out whether It is possible for me to add the stock steering wheel radio controls to my wheel. I have read many different forums and threads on the topic but it seems that this isn't a definite thing. I removed the airbag and did not find the right hand control wire on the harness. Can I just splice into the current harness and buy the controls and make this work or does it need to be wired to the BCM. Also if I can just add the controls, do they need to be programmed or are they plug and play. I'm also curious if there is a way I can test and make sure that the controls will work before I spend $$$ on either a new wheel or controls/harness. Thanks in advance for the help!

Just buy another wheel with the redundant radio controls and swap the whole wheel for the one you have. Lot less trouble and no worry about bad splices. Besides, the other harness is unavailable from GM.
