Xm->sirius Conversion.

I purchased the SIRGM2L back for my 2009 GMC. A few weeks ago I had installed it into my new 2011 Silvy. Was excited that it seemed like it had worked, but I wanted to go on the website and make sure. I was surprized that it stated that it didn't. I didn't to extensive testing with the unit installed, but it seemed like it worked. I too hate XM, and will not pay extra for channels you get for free on Sirius. If things don't work right, I will deal with it, and just have the annoyances every once in a while.

Like many of you, I am a happy sirius subscriber and would like to swap into my 2011 sierra. I will be replacing the factory head unit with something AM. Obviously, i'd like to plug it into the xm antenna and have it work for sirius. Seems like an impossibility? Why xm, why?... why can't this be like dating a hot girl, then dating her hotter sister; same hardware, better service... just plug your wire into a different box.

I have some time to burn tonight, I'm going to put my SIRGM2L into the 2011 and leave it in for a few days and do some testing. I'll post back after having worked it a little bit.

So like Geech up above, the SIRGM2L works almost all the way. There is some noticible lag when changing channels compared with the stock XM tuner. Also, I noticed the same thing when changing the channels between presets, but mine won't go past page 1 of the presets using the steering wheel controls. I don't listen to anything but satellite, so in my case this is perfectly acceptable. I will not pay extra for XM channels when they are free on Sirius. I don't watch much baseball, so I certainly wouldn't listen to it! Stern and NFL for me!

Hopefully this will help those with 10's and up decide on whether the SIRGM2L is worth the cost, I know it is for me. It worked flawlessly in my 09 GMC. I will update my findings here if anything seems to change.
