Grinding/scraping Noise From Left Front

I'll start by saying that I have not done any investigation into this as of yet....just haven't had any time...BUT....

When I am driving, usually between 20-40 MPH (haven't noticed it at higher speeds, if you turn the wheel even just slightly off center to the left, you hear this grinding/scraping noise from the left front wheel. When driving straight, it makes a somewhat noticeable noise similar to a wheel bearing going out.

The weird part is, it only happens some times...

I just had the truck in for an oil change and everything checked out A-OK.

And ideas?

wheel hub

Yeah my uncle had the same thing happening and it turned out to be the wheel hub assembly.

should of got a ford

I'd much rather deal with a wheel hub than a spark blasting out of the head...or a cruise control fire...or the airbag going off when it feels like it.

Now that the troll has been taken care of, is this a severe issue that should be fixed ASAP...or am I ok to drive around with it for a bit yet? Remember it does seem intermittent...

It could just be getting bad if it were a hub- turning will obviously the forces on the bearing but for what it's worth the hub on my 03 went from fine to "I can't hear the radio anymore" instantly and it had 94k on it. 30k seems real low unless the truck's been put through hell. Maybe one of the dust shields for the front rotors is making contact now and then?

When I took my truck up to play in the snow last year, there was a good amount on the road so I left her in 4HI and never hear any grinding or groaning. This was Big Bear so I was making lefts and rights all day long?

Yeah, I don't hear it anymore in 4WD VS 2WD. The scraping sound sounds like the wear indicator on the brakes...but the brakes are fine and the sound is unaffected by the brakes weather I'm on them or not).

I'm going to keep an eye (or ear) on it. Maybe when I work on Saturday, I can park it in the bay and let everything melt. I suppose there could be some snow/ice where it doesn't belong.

UPDATE:

Well, I just got my truck back from the dealer...turns out BOTH wheel hubs were bad. They also replaced both wheel bearings.

Total cost: $1,251.58

Total out of my pocket: $0.00

My GMPP cost $2,105 when I bought...now I am only in the hole ~$850.00.

Wow I'm pretty surprised that they went out with such low miles. You don't wheel it or anything do you? As for warranty, when mine went out they also replaced the front axle seals for the second time (in 65k miles- not too pleased about that one) and that cost made the warranty provider (Toyota of all companies) pay out more than I paid for the warranty.
