Torsion bar keys

I just read a message on torsion bar keys.  From what I gather, if you put different keys on, you can raise your front end more. Is this true?  Does only Ford offer these keys or do other offer these keys.  Since they are Ford keys, will they fit a Chevy?  If I were to order these keys, where would I order them and what exactly (description-wise) do I ask for, size, model # ? Also, what about the bumpstops?  Usually the bumpstops are one of the limiting factors in torsion bar cranking, so would they need to be replaced with shorter ones??  Any info is much appreciated. Thanks

Run a search for Ford Keys and you can get everything you would want to know.  If you have heard of the "Hill Levelling kit", all it is is a pair of Ford Keys.

The part number for the Ford key is #XL3Z-5B328-CA  You will need 2.  They cost about $22 each.

My cousin got a pair of these for his 2k silverado for about 35 bucks.  Do you just order these from a ford dealership or is there a better online deal somewhere else.  thanks

I bought them at the local Ford dealer.  I mentioned that they should be around $20 each before he quoted me a price.

Did you get keys for a 2002 Ford or does it not matter?  Should I just give them the part number and not tell them I am putting them on a Chevy  ?  I see the part number up there and I wonder if those will work for the 99-02 silverados? ???   I am confused! :)

By lifting the front by 2 1/2 inches with the keys will this knock off the cv angles causing problems? How much of a lift are most of you  putting in the rear for a good look with these keys?

Thanks

just go in and spell off the part number to the parts guy.

CV angles are fine, and I didn't put anything in the rear.

I used the keys to level the front to the back, for more of a truck look.

It also tends to squat in the rear when loaded, perhaps thats why the front is lower to begin with.

Just added the Ford keys to my 02 1500. WOW what a difference. Got it aligned today, good thing I didn't drive it to far. The caster and toe were out 1.5" each side. I am thinking about putting an extra leaf in the rear to keep it from squatting under load or when I tow. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Ya, did it myself in about an hour. By the way dont try it with a c clamp. Used a very heavy duty 9" clamp and bent the sh*t out of it. Used a 2 jaw gear puller, worked slick. This was the easiest 3" lift I ever installed. Been searching for a add a leaf type kit but it looks like they are for after it starts to sag. I was hoping for something that would lift matbe an inch or so and help lrom the get go. Not looking to make my lil' half ton a 3/4 ton but just make it look and act more like a truck.
