Build Date/ Title Question

My truck was built on July 08 2010 and titled as a 2010, seems to me 2011's could be had by then but I'm sure I'm wrong, I always am. I'm just wondering when the years of titles change. There can't be much diferences in my 2010 over a 2011???

They are building trucks much later than they used to. Previously the end of MY was cutoff around May/June and the new MY started to show up at dealers around august. For the 2010 MY they didnt start building them until the end of September and delivery started in October.

 

I dont think this will answer your question for last year but here is the build schedule for the upcoming year. It looks as if July was the start of the 2011MY.

Thanks for that info and link. According to that link, they started making crew cabs for 2011 on July 12. Mine must have been one of the last 10s they made. I don't know this means but it is listed on my build sheet. POMS EXPEDITE-SOLD ORDERS/TSE

Mine says that too because it was an ordered/customer sold vehicle

So do you figure mine was ordered and turned down? I do know that there were 6 like this one, all diferent colors, sitting together and supposedly sold and two days later all were for sale again.

On an average GM changes 1200-1500 parts from one year to another on each vehicle for product reliability and customer enhancement.

2011's saw no major changes from 2010. Mechanically the same I believe.

Sometimes dealers lie to GM to get more vehicles and say they are sold orders.

I've seen that on just about every vehicle. best I can tell, the truck was ordered that way for the dealership instead of GM just building a truck with no one in mind to take it, that truck was already "sold" to the dealership before it went to production.

In most part the dealers order there vehicles for the demand on the area they are selling. Sold orders are not a dealer inventory order. If you cannot find what you would like option wise you must order it. I never buy off the lot as there are options i do not wish to have, Nav is one of them just too expensive. Cannot justify $2500-3000 when i can buy one for $2-300.
