2008 Avalanche Trailer Plug

I just bought a 2008 Avalanche (lease return) and went to hook up my trailer and I can't get the lights to work. I checked the trucks 7 trailer connectors in the plug with a volt meter and there is no power to any of them (ie no turn, brake, or tail light power). The hitch looks like it has never been used. Do I need to have the plug connected somewhere under the vehicle or hood or should this have been done at the factory?

Usually from factory only the charge line and brake controller wires are not connected. At the underhood electrical center (fuse block). Unless the truck comes with tow package..

 

With your not having stop light and signals etc. I would check fuses (ipc fuse block).

Your 7 way is mounted in the bumper correct?. check the connector at the bach of the 7 way for corrosion and or not connected..
