Gm Hood Protector

When I purchased my 2010 Sierra 1500 back in May I ordered one of GMs hood protectors. I liked the design because it did not cover up the chrome strip on my hood however the two sided adhesive that is used to stick it to the hood is starting to peel off of the hood on the two outside corners. I did follow the instructions and cleaned the hood where the adhesive was going to go. Just checking to see if anyone else has had any problems with this? Also does GM offer any type of warranty with their products?

The only way they will warranty that is if they installed themselves.

Thats what I thought. I installed it myself because I could not justify paying the dealer to install something that simple.

Not necessarily. I purchased the gm accessory nerf bars when I bought my truck and installed them myself (I had to wait about 3 days after I pikced up the truck to get them, didnt wnt to take it back and have to wait for them to do it). The dealer said it was no problem as they were doing it for free anyways. They still have the 3 yr 36K warranty on them.

Beeker, we purchased a 2010 Tahoe and a 2010 Silverado at the same time back in Sept. I bought 2 GM hood protectors for the vehicles right away. The mounting on the Tahoe wasn't too bad, but the way in mounted, sorta "clamping" onto the hood on the Silverado was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I took both hood protectors back to the dealer, and upon doing a little more research, I bought the EGR brand, and couldn't be happier with them so far. The EGR won't actually touch the painted surface of the hood, and doesn't require that silly "tape" to protect the hood. The only thing I will tell you though, is don't get rid of the screws from the GM protector. My GM hood protector used rivnuts, and once those are installed, very difficult to dig outta there. The EGR used the same holes, but a little different mounting design, but using the screws from the GM part in the EGR worked great.

I installed the EGR on my 2011 Silverado, any concerns with removing the factory rubber stops from the hood? Thx, Jeff

I also have a EGR aero sheild on my 09 silverado 2500hd. I ordered mine in chrome to match the factory chrome grill and bumper, were on the beach alot so the type of mounting that does'nt use tape to stick it to the hood is the best. Otherwise, sand, leaves, small stones get trapted between the protector and the hood making it hard to clean ! Just my two cents/Dave :D:thumbs:
