Anyone Interested In Swapping Rims?

I have an 09 Sierra 2WD with the 20" chrome clad wheels. Ive always loved the 08 20" 6 spoke polished wheels that came on those Sierras. If anyone is interesed I'd be willing to just swap rims and possibly tires as well depending on condition. My truck only has 25K on it and the wheels are in great condition and my tires are original and have been rotated recently and found no abnormal wear with approximately 50-60% tread depth left. I would even be willing to give a little cash for better tires if thats the case. Im open to all offers!

Thanks!

Good luck, there are many big fans of the 08 rims, you're going to be hard pressed to find someone to give them up for the rims on your truck.

I agree. I love those wheels on the GMC! Anyone trading would be screwing themselves going from a real machined aluminum wheel to a chromed plastic glued on aluminum wheel. :)

I'll never understand why they even made those ugly chrome clad 20's? Good luck!

GM's first clad aluminum wheel was for a 1999 Pontiac Grand-Am. It was a 16" wheel and the cladding had 3 of what we called "Tiger-Claws" across each spoke. I worked for the company that made that aluminum wheel. At the time clad was a way to provide a chrome wheel look to a vehicle that really couldn't support the price point of a true chrome plated wheel. It was about a $22 or so upcharge to clad a 16" wheel vs $60, (Tier 1 supplier cost), or so to chrome plate the same wheel. Cast aluminum wheels (especially 18" and bigger)are hard (meaning expensive) to chrome because of the large surface area that needs polished, multiple layers of copper, (each layer buffed), and the zinc coating, etc. Larger surface area means more porosity to deal with when you start to polish the cast surface. Plus with the clad wheels you can do some things in the design that you just can't do with a chrome plated wheel. It all boils down to cost. Back in '99 we thought it was a fad for lower price point vehicles and never thought it would be seen on up-level vehicles. I'd don't like it either but it seems like its here to stay. :dunno:

Maybe you think you would be screwing yourself but someone else might not think so. I was hoping someone might want the chrome look rather than a polished one.

For those interested I sent you PM's
