Just joined the Forum and wanted to say hello. I was referred here from a member of the Corvette Forum and was glad to find an active forum for GM trucks.

I just ordered a Chevy Silverado LS 2500HD extended cab with the Duramax and Allison combination as we are planning on hauling a car trailer to several longer distance car shows. From what I've been able to research, as well as several test drives, this seems like a good combination for our use in towing and as well as an every day vehicle.

Being a hot rodder at heart, I can't seem to leave anything alone and have begun making a list of accessories and changes to make. Things on the list thus far are: billet grill, running boards, replacing the fender flares with smooth units (which will be painted in a contrasting color along with the area below the beltline), fiberglass tonneau cover, bed rug and pinstripping. I am also considering the advantages of the GMPP. I know there will be more things (like wheels & tires) and I'm sure you folks can help with the things I have missed.  :uhoh:

I don't have a target production week yet but hope to by next week.

I've been scanning the various threads this past week for the experience of those who have these trucks and this forum is a great place to find information. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

Tom,

Thanks for the welcome.

We will be hauling an enclosed Renegade trailer to transport Corvettes to the long distance shows. The trailer is all aluminum so it's fairly light weight and the car weights less than 3,000 lbs. We plan on heading out to Indianapolis, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Detroit next year and wanted something more capable of doing the job. From what I've seen this truck should do the job well.

The link to our web site is in our signature if you get a chance to check it out.

Thanks for the kind replies and welcomes. While I have had  trucks in the past, it was some time ago and not with this engine and transmission. I've done some homework this far but there's still much to learn and I appreciate all the help.

My wife and I appreciate the kind comments on our workshop. We've spent a lot of time designing and building it as a part of our Corvette hobby. While there are many more exotic garages out there (just look at the Extreme Garages show on HGTV) at least we built this one ourselves and it works well for us.

Thanks again.

Hi Rich! Glad to see you over here!  You might remember, but we met at the Show in Boston last spring. I'm active over on Corvetteforum.com and the rest of the "New England Crew", and the Bay State Corvette Club.

:)

If anyone hasn't checked out Rich's webpage, you should! He has an AWESOME 62 "Z06".  I've seen in it person, and its just drop dead amazing...

:D

His garage is nice too...  :uhoh:

Randy,

thanks for the welcome.

Zane,

Yes, we met quite a few folks from the Corvette Forum in Boston. It was great to get to put faces to the names we see on the forum. That's a great show but I don't think we'll be doing it this year.

Thanks for the welcome. That's a great picture of Marty Feldman. It looks like it's from Young Frankenstein.

Dihappy,

Yup, we drive them both to local Cruise-Nights twice a week during the summer. As a friend of ours said: "not driving them would be like being married to a super model and not sleeping with her".  :jester: I don't know if the analogy is quite right but it does have the right message.
