05 Power Seat Problem?

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a problem I recently discovered.

My recline button seems to be dead. Either that or the motor which adjusts the angle of the seat is fried. When I push the swich, I can hear it click...as if to activate the motor, but nothing happens. This is the long vertical button of the 3 which only controls the recline feature. All the other buttons and heat feature works fine.

I cant see anything blocking the track for the actual reclining of the seat, but have no idea which motor underneath the seat would be responsible for this feature. As well, I dont have any idea which wiring connection of the bunch would affect this switch. Any way to test the swictch itself? Do these remove at all?

Im hoping I can play around with the wires after work today. Since I can hear it "click" when I push the lever arm forward or back, Im doubtful it is a bad ground or a wire came loose. I checked the fuse panel next to the steering wheel and the fuse is fine.

Any suggestions on where to begin........?

Anyone?

I found the motor and think it might be shot. There are 3 motors that I can see under the seat. When I compare to the passenger seat, the recline is activated by the motor with the shaft coming out the side. I can see the shaft turning when I activate the pass recline feature, but the shaft on the drivers seat motor does not turn at all.

I tried playing with the wires, pulled out the switch and everything seems fine.

How much of a pain is it to completely remove the seat?
