Weird Stabiltrak Issue

This afternoon, the wife and I had been traversing 30+ miles of national forest roads which were muddy and snow covered. I ran the truck in 2wd the most part, but would switch over into auto-4wd when we were ascending the hills steep enough that we would start loosing traction in 2wd.

The 30+ was issue free, everything worked great.

Once we got back on pavement, we had driven about 8 miles, and all the sudden the following sequence happened.

-head lights blinked

-gauge cluster resets (speedo and tach needles drop to zero then back to actual speed)

<I let off gas, and coast at 40mph or so>

-service stabilitrak shows on DIC

-loose power

-tranny down shifts to lower gear, causing truck to hit 5k on the tach

-truck starts a mild shutter

-tranny upshifts back to correct gear

-service stabilitrak warning goes away

<I softly start giving it gas>

-everything is back up and running

No problem sense then in 40 highway miles driven.

I pulled over to eat dinner 20 miles down the road, shut it off, spent an hour eating then went back out had OnStar run diagnostics on it. Of course, they came up with nothing.

Now tell me WTF happened here! Please.

I am assuming I have a bad electrical sensor of some sort that caused temporary short or something.

BTW, the truck has 12,800 miles on it. Specs are in my signature.
