New Truck Options Factory Or Otherwise?

i was looking to get a new sierra sle short bed 4x4 this year. any must have options?? i was gonna do a locking rear end, rear slider, and spray in bed liner. the latter wouldn't be from the dealer. anything else thats good?? i wanted some kind of back locking cover for the bed, i think a hard tonneau is overkill and i don't like the soft ones, too cheesey. i wanted something locking, i'm sick of loading the front with fishing gear and golf clubs.

For me, nothing less than 3.42 gears and like you mentioned, Factory lockers. As far as a bed cover, I guess if you don't like the soft covers, then a Pace Edwards rolling cover might be the trick. Not cheap though, but def. a good option if your not interested in a hard cover.

Fold-a-cover is a great option. Locks the tailgate without needing a tailgate lock. Access to the front of the bed too. Get some Weather Tech floor digital floor mats and no drill splash guards. Keep it simple for a sleek look. Not a bunch of walmart chrome or deflectors everywhere.

+1 on the LineX cover. I was planning on doing the LineX bed liner and the folding cover. Plans change but it is still on my list...

Camper mirrors if you are going to tow travel trailer,

Fifthwheel/camper wiring if you need that,

whats with the gears? are we doing tractor pulls? i don't really care much about torque. i'm towing a small boat, 500-600 pounds.whatever gives me the best mileage. i can pull that with a CRV. as for as the covers go, can i still haul dirt and mulch around?? do they come off easy. you guys had some good ideas on covers.

5.3L + 3.73's is the best combo aside from NHT. It's what I have in my truck and I love it. My suggestions, just factor in the cost of a leveling kit to your purchase price. It's worth every single penny.

For performance I suggest the 5.3L 3.73 combo, and a BB tune.

For looks I'm going to suggest the leveling kit. No side steps, mud flaps or extras. A good, clean, simple look is where it's at.

Goodluck!

The fold-a-cover folds to cover the front 16" of the bed. You can't easily remove it unless you have a wrench. Its only downfall. On the up side the hinges are steel. Might be the only one to offet that.
