01z71 Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 I did a search on it and I am pretty sure it is my Switch on the dash going bad but was there a TSB on this? I thought I read one but can't remember. Just wanted to have something to take to the dealer because last time it acted up they had "No Problem Found"
THE BIGPUNN Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 i dont recall a tsb on it but my dealer told me it was a very common problem. they fixed it right away...only there maybe 30 minutes or so..
01z71 Posted October 14, 2002 Author Posted October 14, 2002 Cool, I'm gonna take mine in this week. Hopefully, this time they will replace the switch. I'll let you know how it goes.
rrsob Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Same here. My "service 4wd" light came on. Dealer replaced it under warranty. Good Luck.

rrsob Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 for the ones who have had problems how often do you guys use your 4wd (autotrac). I try and at least use mine once a month (even when it rains i pop it into auto I bought my truck used with approx. 28,000 miles on it and had the switch replaced about a month later. So, I'm not sure of the history. But, since I've had it replaced, I use autotrac about once a month (in rain) when I tend to have a heavy foot. No problems since. I'm sure I'll use it alot more soon in the snow. By the way Ryan. How's the puppy?

I have just ordered it and a couple of other thing from them and they came in last week. Have yet to have time to replace it. I use mine about once a month or so.
01z71 Posted October 14, 2002 Author Posted October 14, 2002 Same here, I use mine about once a month just to keep the gears lubed.
RyanbabZ71 Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 By the way Ryan. How's the puppy? Good wearing us all out. He has alot of energy. He is very good though and he loves the outdoors Hes getting bigger too. He is really wearing out our older dogg (and driving him crazy hehe)
Kansas Kid Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 If the switch is only $35 and I owned a truck with a push-button transfer case, I would keep a spare switch with me in the truck. Better to change out a switch when it goes out then find out it doesn't work when you actually need it. And we all know it is going to go out quite often, seeing as how that is one of the most common warrenty items on GM trucks. But just wait until something more serious goes wrong with the t-case (and it is bound to happen), sure isn't going to seem like such a great option to have then. $$$ Just in case you couldn't tell, I would never recommend that someone who is physically capable of pulling the 4wd lever buy a truck without one. Too much can and will go wrong with autocrap.
