Lifted Suburban Ride Quality

i went and looked at an 82 suburban with a 12"(i think) suspension lift and 3" body lift with 44" tires under it. it seems like the truck is hard to keep straight. i did notice that the shocks for the steering were not attached very securly. i was wondering if this was most of the problem or if ther could be more to it.

thanks

My in laws had a '89 bone stock GMC Suburban (for those that don't know GMC's were Suburbans before they started calling them Yukon XL) that liked to wander. I believe their steering box probably was the culprit.

I'd say an 82's steering box probably needs some love and that much lift proabably isn't helping any. I doubt the shocks for steering is what's making it hard to keep straight. Something could be bent, alignment could be off, steering box could need adjusting, and it could be just that everything is worn out. Sorry, Im not much help.

are the tires chopped up? id be willing to bet balljoints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, steering box are all shot unless you're buying it to beat the hell out of and have extra cash to waste i wouldnt touch it
