Getting New Tires

Well, on Wednesday I am finally getting new tires. Goodbye General Ameritracs. I'm getting Goodyear Wrangler AT/S in LT275/70/17 load range C. I'll post pics when they're installed, need to get the truck washed as it's been a snowy mess here for the last month (in Tennessee no less).

Wanted to know how everyone else has done with these. I know they come stock in P and they're hit or miss, but I haven't seen many complaints about the LT sizes.

They are okay, but they dry rot quick and start to ride like crap. I ran the same tires except on 18s about a month ago, I got them brand new for free. You should look at cooper zeon, they are cheap and ride good.

That's exactly my plan also. 275/70/17's. A tad larger than stock but you don't have to level to avoid rubbing. You also can't beat the price of the LT AT/S's in that size. I've found them for around $179 shipped and mounted and balanced. There are not alot of tires that come in that size mainly Firestone Destination AT's, GY AT/s, Cooper ATR's. BFG also makes the ATko but in an E range which is crap on a 1/2 ton.

Please post some pics when you get them on. BTW the LT AT/S are alot better than the P rated ones. Alot more tread depth, stronger side walls and tread. I think you'll be pleased.

New tires went on today, here are the pics. Keep in mind, the driveway slopes down a bit.

Overall, I couldn't tell a big difference in shift pattern or anything else on the way home. It did cruise at lower RPMs, but not enough that made me want to throw up. I guess I'll see in a week what the gas mileage hit was...

Looks good. Are the pics with the 2" level installed? Would they clear without the level? Thanks

Yes, the leveling kit is installed. The tire shop owner told me there might be some slight rubbing on odd angles, but I don't think that they would have cleared unleveled. However, mine is a RCSB and they seem to sit lower in the front end than EC and CC trucks.

Ran the truck down the highway with GPS. I think the speedo was overestimating before the tires. It's only 1 MPH over the speedo now according to the GPS.

275/70/17 clear without a leveling kit. I ran them for 15000 miles and never rubbed. They are .5 inches taller than stock.
