I keep seeing people on here claiming they are getting 17-18 on the highway and 14-15 in town. I commute 35 miles each way to work everyday that is all highway and have never reset the fuel economy computer in the 18 months since I bought the truck new. With 80% of my driving on a 4 lane highway it still says I am only getting 14 MPG.

depends on engine size/rearend ratio and your right foot....I was getting over 18 last summer but dropped to 15 in the winter. 5.3/6 speed/3.08...also use 89 octane

08 5.3 afm with 3.73's. I just did the DIC upgrade.. For a couple of months I was calculating the old fashioned way, trip meter to fuel used, fill up every time. I do about 70 city/30 hwy, and was getting about 15.5-16 mpg. I just did the DIC upgrade and its currently reading 15.4 mpg average at 1/4 tank used. I filled up at a gas station and drove 70 mph for about 15 miles on the highway to my house and it read 20.7 mpg average. If I had to guess, I get 15 city 20 Hwy.. I'm happy with that out of a full size crew cab truck!

I only use non-ethonal gas, just 87 octane though. But I avoid the cheapo stations and put Chevron gas in my truck, the local stations use pure gas!

On a AFM note, I have watch it on a pretty flat stretch of highway, when it goes into V4 mode(and stays there) I get about 24-25mpg according to the DIC.

When it stays in V8 mode I get about 19-20 mpg.. BUT it switches back and forth SO much, when it goes to v-8 mode it drops to like 12 mpg for a long time, is there really any benefit to this? If it would just stay in V-8 mode it would cruise at 20 mpg(maybe better?)and be much more consistent, I think this crap was made by some pencil pushing tree hugger that probably has never driven a truck. Sorry end of AFM rant. :P

Took a 300 mile trip this weekend. According to my DIC, I got 19.5mpg. Held the cruise at 72 on flat road, and used my foot on hills to keep from constantly shifting up and down.

wow, I'm really surprised reading all these reports of 19-20 mpg in the 68-72 mph range. I'm gonna have to try that I guess. I get 19-20 mpg going 55 on the highway I drive on. When I get on a faster road I set the cruise at like 65 and the mileage drops 16-18. I haven't tried going any faster. I figured it would only get worse the faster you go.

Depepnds on the terrain too. I was on a trip to my parents housse which is close to the coast. It gets pretty flat down there. Around my house wehre there are quite a few hills, I avg. about 15mpg at 70mph.

5.3 AFM and 3.73's, just took a 1200 mile trip and got 19.7 for first calculation(all interstate at 73mph), 2nd calculation was 17.2 with mixture of hwy and city, 3rd was 19.4 all hwy. The DIC was very close when I looked at the average.

Just took a 1400 mile trip this weekend. Speeds were anywhere from 65-75 depending on the state. 16.7 on the trip down and 16.4 on way back with the 6.0l 6spd and 3.42s.

I get 15.3 from the DIC and 14 when I hand calculate it. I have an '09 4.8l. Even mix of hwy and city. I noticed that going 65 on the hwy can get me up into the 16 zone but not much more than that.

Took the family to the zoo yesterday, round trip was about 250 miles. Filled up and reset the DIC. Says I got 19.7 mpg so far. That was about 90 hwy/ 10 city, while going 70-75 on the highway. It was semi hilly terrain and very windy yesterday. This was Chevron 87 octane gas with no ethonal.

Dang thats really good. I find that the wind makes the mpgs drop a lot on my truck. 19.7 at 70 mph in simi hilly terrain is really great.

I make that particular trip often to east texas for work, and I usually can get in the low 20's according to the DIC if its a still cool morning.

It really depends on the traffic and how many times I have to click off my cruise, but I usually set it on 71 and never touch it (Texas troopers are ruthless).
