Lowerd 07 Standard , Woes!

I have a bell tech front suspension.with 4" drop x 6" drop.Shorter springs , dropped spindles, and street performance shocks. believe they are bell tech also/..................rear is longer shackles and lifted. front brackets[bell tech]

]1 My truck is a bit to stiff as compared to my 94 siverado i bought new, and lowerd when it had 15 miles on it.

]2 This 07 truck is an [Lt] work truck.............. When lowers springs are bought, Does one get the same coil spring [weight catagory]as Gm installed, when it was new. only shorter. Or could i get a different spring that has a softer ride[maybe from a different model] but same year]or years.I was at the dealership asking questions about this and the parts guy, stated there were 7 or 8 different part numbers, for stock springs. but he couldn't relate any definite uses on the parts numbers.

[3 These shocks won't bottom out front or back....

]The back leaves are fairly new but seem to be quite thick. There are only two leaves per side.

I am thinking they may be to thick for the. the back of this 2-2wd drive. [silverado] truck.

It is much stiffer than my 94 was!!.

Any ideas you may have! please pass them along to me. This is a slick little truck..but the ride is harsher than i think it should be. Waiting to hear from you thank you---------------- bob s

PS i have a lowerd 32 ford , a lowerd 50 mercury . and a lowerd 49 ford s-10 clipped that rides great. Where is my problem with this newer truck?????????

No disrespect to this forum as it is my favorite... But you will find a much larger crowd of lowered - especially talking 4"/6" - over on GMFS.....

GMFS

Hope this helps :wtf:

Yeah, the majority of folks in this forum are pro-level, and not too much love for the lowered rides. Your truck looks sweet. Want to drop my Silvy sometime. Any pics of the Fords/Merc available??

you may already know this, but, anytime you shorten a coil spring, it raises the stiffness. Think of a coil spring as basically a leaf spring wound up. When you short the length, you are shortening the lever effect it has, thus increasing stiffness or weight carrying capacity. Grab a Moog spring book, look up your springs in there, you can find springs that have less stiffness and still keep the same heights, but smaller wire diameter. This was how we used to do it 30 years ago, can't imagine it has changed any.
