Which Tailgate Fin-protector For Use With Hard Tonneau Cover

I have a Undercover hard tonneau cover coming tomorrow along with a BedRug, for the cover it says I will have to remove the stock larger style tailgate fin-protector and replace it with a standard version.

I'm curious if anyone has tried an 2500HD model tailgate fin-protector or knows if it'll fit or not.

Also having a hard time removing the stock fin-protector, screws just spin, not coming out (all 4)

edit: all screws out and fin removed. Wow there is alot of holes/slots under it.

Thanks

I have the same tonneau cover, I love it! When I bought mine the place offered to send an aftermarket tailgate protector. It was $20 and it works beautifully. I would imagine that the the 2500 would work, but I don't have any experience with that.

Don't know about the screw problem. Best of luck with that!

17802389 is the GM number you need, paid $30.00 picked mine up today. I am between the Undercover and Leer 550. Please let me know how you like the undercover.

YES................You will need the GM 2500 tailgate cap !

You could TRY one of the aftermarket caps BUT SOME of them are

not as wide (as in top to bottom) as the GM 2500 cap and they will

not cover the factory holes in the GM tailgate.
