Quick mileage question...

I got to wondering about it over lunch, so I decided I would ask... What kinda of mileage is everyone getting with their 8.1's????

I am getting 11 to 13 mpg with my 6.0L... Really not what I expected.... Hope it goes up.... What is everyone else with a 6.0 getting????

I've seen 15 with my 6.0L... I think I could probably see 15.5-16 on all out highway cruising. My worst was 7.5 mpg's... but that tank lasted 5 weeks in the winter and was basically all in town short trips with no warm-up.

Shaners you have the same basic truck as mine 2500HD crew cab. I can not get it over 13... That was the first tank and the last one was 11 mpg... I am taking a long highway trip this weekend so I hope to see what this thing can do on the highway. I only go 70 with it. I was really hoping for 15mpg... If I knew the mpg was going to be this bad I would have gottan the 8.1 and had the same mpg... Just hope it improves... Really don't have many miles on it as of yet..

SxViper, My friend at work has an identical truck to ours except his is an '02 where mine is an '01. He has seen between 15.5 and 16 on the highway with the cruise set at 75-80 mph and the AC on. He has about 12k miles on it now...

I didn't see my best numbers until I had over 5K miles on mine. I too would have liked to had the 8.1L, but the 6.0L does everything I ask of it, and it was around 3 grand cheaper when you figure in the cost of the Allison tranny.

My truck weighs in over 6000 lbs so I can understand why my "city" (stop and go) milage is low... I drive mostly short trips in town with an occaisional trip of 10 miles one way, and I avg between 11 and 12 mpg's.
