Toolbox Recommendations

Looking for a toolbox for my truck. Wondering if anyone has one they would recommend. I know WeatherGuard makes one of the best ones but they are pricey. I have been eyeing a UWS low profile. It's pretty reasonable and has good reviews. Tractor Supply has some that are alittle cheaper but they seem to get mixed reviews, especially about their latching system. Any recommendations? I have a black truck and deciding on the shiny diamond plate or the black.

Weatherguard. Yes, it is pricey.....but for a reason. I have had my toolbox for 4 years, and it still looks like it is brand new. It's completely covered under a lifetime, so you will have no issues.

 

You get what you pay for.....and that's why I will only buy Weatherguard.

 

Do you want to buy a new junk box every year, or 1?!?

Ive had good experience with the UWS. I have one on my work truck, and one on my personal truck, and my buddy had one on his truck when we were in college. They are really well built, but are still affordable. Ive had the Tractor Supply boxes. THey are good if thats all you can afford, but for $100 or so more, you can get the UWS. The lids are stouter built, and the hardware is better on the UWS.

I have a tractor supply (Delta) low profile box. I like it alot have had it over a year now and it works for my application.

My toolbox wont get abused like a construction or contract workers toolbox. If i was in that profession i definetely would spring for the Weather Guard. I am leaning toward the UWS but i will stop by Tractor Supply tomorrow to check those out. I will use this toolbox mostly for hunting stuff and just everyday junk to throw in there. Nice looking box Ryan, i like that TS box. Have you notice any fading or paint chipping with the blk?

Ha, I wasn't trying to step on your toes confessing my love for Weatherguard! I am a construction worker, and that's why I do have Weatherguard.

 

However, that is also my only experience with toolboxes. Whichever brand you go with, make sure the black won't fade or chip off! You gotta go black...

 

Anyone ever powdercoated a toolbox?

Naw, I wasnt thinking that at all. If i was in your profession i would get a Weatherguard,but i dont have the need for nothing that crazy. From the reviews i read some folks said the black does scratch and chip pretty easily. Down here it gets really hot in the summers and would be worried about fading over time. I know on the shiny ones you can polish them up pretty easily. I bet the black boxes would get pretty hot too. Powdercoat does seem like a good idea.

My UWS black toolbox on my last truck started peeling within a few months....now, it is for storage in my barn. The UWS is the way to go, but not the coated ones.

The Weatherguard boxes are fantastic. I no longer have a need for a box, but if I do again some day I won't ever buy another kind.

 

Don't even think about buying a Lowe's or a Home Depot box, they are absolute junk.

 

My Weatherguard box was black and it held up great. It got dinged and scratched, but never peeled.
