I was thinking about a factory unit because I could still use the steering wheel controls, and still have the xm radio. Is there a better option?

There are dozens of radios that will work. Mainly, any radio from an '07 plus NBS truck or SUV (including Acadia Enclave, Outlook but excluding H2 H3 Escalade Denali) and they will all work. Most of the differences are minor. Some are cosmetic (Acadia unit would have red lights instead of blue) Some are functional (some are compatible with bluetooth, some have the USB plug as an option). the prices range accordingly.

Which of these matter to you? For example, I sell the Acadia nav units (red lights) with the antenna and disc that is compatible with RSE, will play DVD's when in park, but do not have the USB plug for about $700. I sell the same unit except without RSE and it will not play DVD's for $650. You would probably want to get a VSS wire with either of these units.

The blue light USB rear DVD version is much more rare, and so I get around $1500 out of that unit with the disc and antenna when they are available.

 

What are your preferences?

I've been thinking about doing this, too. For me at least (and I think the original poster, too) -- I'd be interested in whichever unit would come in the truck if it had Nav from the factory. Which parts would I need, and about how much would that all run?

 

Would it be a different XM tuner with a different XM id #? I ask because mine somehow got activated with a 24-month free trial instead of the normal 3, and I'd prefer not to have to lose that
