JirehCustoms Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I have an early 90s 350 and auto trans out of a Chevy 2500 utility truck. It was a good running driving truck when the motor/trans were pulled. I want to put it in my 95 GMC 1500. What mods do I need to get 20+ mpg and as much power & torque as possible with that fuel milage. My 95 currently has a 350 and auto trans with 223,000 miles. It runs good. It is just tired. I want to build this other motor and freshen it up to bring more life to my truck and my wallet. Any good advice is helpfull.
becker87 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 20+ mpg? Good luck with that. With my 94 silverado with the 350, best i ever achieved was about 17. Your gonna need some pretty tall gears, a very efficient free breathing 350 and some smaller/skinny tires for lower rolling resistance, and keeping the weight as low as possible. Those are all things that will help your mpg, but 20+ will still be hard to achieve.

Any improvement on the 12/13 I am getting now would be good. 17/18 would even be great.
jro909 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 a 350 and fuel economy is a pipe dream, its possible i guess but prob not worth the mods
