A/c Clicking Noise In Dash

Hello I am hoping someone here can help me narrow down my 2003 chevy silverado 1500 5.3L A/C clicking noise issue. After the vehicle starts the AC starts to cycle thru the vents and then regardless of the knob position it always return to the defrost vents. This is the same with both heat and air. I took apart the blower tubing and found the clicking part, (motor & gear ) assembly. The gearslook fine and it slides perfectly across the groved track. I checked behind the vents and behind the dash for lost items that may have jammed something. So i am wondering if there is a fix for this clicking part. maybe a control module or a sensor that is supposed to tell it what vent to blow, im lost for ideas. please help.

Try a blend door reset..............

 

Take out the 2 HVAC fuses from the underhood fuse center.

Wait a few minutes.

Install the fuses and turn ignition to the RUN position.

Listen for the blend door to reset its position.

I removed the fuse, the other slot for hvac was empty. same result, click click click. i removed battery terminal and pressed horn to release capacitor, same result click click click. it blows out the correct vents at first then cycles to the defrost vents after clicking stops. any ideas?

I was wondering when you are pulling the fuses what position should the controls be at? I have a 2006 Sierra with dual climate control and have a clicking in the passenger side temperature blend actuator. it clicks when the slide is all the way down in the cold position but stops at mid to hot position. i think this started when i had my battery changed (didn't notice as it was winter when the battery was changed. if you could let me know the postions that would be great.

My old truck, which my brother drove was a 2003 1500 w/t. It did the exact same thing. I traced down the noise, found the motor, took it out, and there were several teeth stripped off of the gear which made it just click. A new motor and the reset procedure would have been in order, but he traded that truck on a 2011 not too long ago.
