Hey guys!

Well i sent out my rims for some warranty work, and they are being replaced, which is nice, but i'm not going to see them on the truck for another month! so i was wondering if anyone has run a 35 / 12.5 on a stock 17 GMT900 GMC with a 6 inch suspension lift. I am needing the truck for my upcoming move in 2 weeks. just want to know about some rubbing issues maybe>??

Thanks

I would think you should be ok. I ran some 315/75r16s on stock rims with very little rub. I didn't have 6 inches of lift though, had a little less.

I would be more concerned with mounting a 12.5" wide tire on such a narrow wheel. You also have to consider the factory backspacing. I'd bet that those 17's will not work.

Sure it will "work"...

Got a good feeling that there is not gonna be enough backspacing on the oem wheels.. And technically the OEM wheel is to narrow for a 12.5" width tire.

looks like i'm going to have to keep the truck parked until the rims show up then, or run the stock tires back on the stock rims while having it lifted, ( good gracious it will look so out of place, like i had enough money for the lift but none for tires and wheels!!! )

or borrow a truck !!

Cheers

Trust me, your not the first to run small tires while waiting for the correct ones

nah I bent a wheel once and had to run my oem 17s with oem tires on my fabtech lift until the new wheel got here.. I thought it was going to look ridiculous, but really it just looked like a 2500 or something.. It looked goofy to me, but it wasnt like it stuck out like a sore thumb and everyone was pointing and laughing.. Truth is majority of the population probably had no idea it wasnt the way it looked from the factory..

Edit: and in my earlier post i said not enough backspacing but thats not phrased properly, the oem wheels will have TOO MUCH backspacing.. sorry. Also i guess i should elaborate, the only way i could run the OEM wheels/tires with the fabtech was with a wheel spacer.. my truck has 1.5" wheel adapters in order to give me the correct amount of backspace..
