285's and 305's are just about the same hieght, but the 305's a slightly wider, so you'll have a bigger contact patch on the ground.  The 285's might get slightly better gas mileage, but I really don't know if it would be a very noticable difference between the two.

I have never run 285's,I run 305's so I can't really say,but I agree with Tom,don't think the mileage would be much different since they are pretty much the same height.

one thing i would think about is how the wider tire will throw junk up on the side of your truck

wider tires = more rock chips

And w/ the flares there wasn't any added worries of rock chips

I have 285s and factory flares and mudflaps and i still get my share of rock chips in the rear.

It might help but it wont stop em

I don't think you will notice much difference. Your stock 265's are almost 32 inches tall and 285's and 305's are almost 33 inches.

Heard of any cooling problems with new style chevys and body lifts...since the fans are 3 in higher than the motor?

I've run 285's and 305's and the difference is about 1" of width...gas mileage is the same...if you have a narrower rim the 305's wear out faster than the 285's do but it is marginally faster so go with what makes you happy..

I havn't heard of any, but I did a little work to mine.  I didn't have any cooling problems, I did it mainly to "clean it up" under the hood a little.  I think what I did helps the fan shroud to now work more like it's suppose to before I added the B/L.
