Underhood FIRE!!!

Buddy's 02 1500 with a 3 inch body lift caught fire in the underhood fuse box area. Since there have been no mods to the fusebox and it has been a year since the body lift we don't think it was caused by it. Dealer of course is blaming the lift but can't point out anything done that would have created a fire. Truck is equipped with an aux cooling fan, but wiring to it seems fine. Anybody else heard of any underhood fires? This one started about 15 minutes AFTER the truck was parked in his driveway. Any help would be appreciated... By the way, I am sortof new to this forum but this is really cool! Thanks everybody.

Was it an electrical fire or a fuel/oil related fire. Sounds odd especially with the truck parked for 15 minutes. Maybe static electricity caused it. I have no idea

??? . Good luck figuring it out and I hope the thing ain't ruined. That would b e horrible!

Hey! Thanks for the replies... The fire was electrical and the Dealer only wants an estimated $9000.00 to fix it. Nice guys huh? I am not buying the "lift kit caused it" story either. A LOT more investigation will go on before I have the insurance company pay for it... you all know what happens AFTER the ins co pays up... WE PAY UP!

Hope somebody can give me their experience with it if anybody was as unlucky as we were. I want to know if this is one of the General's little "hidden" faults.

i have a body lift on my '99 and I don't see how it could have any effect on that fuze box. Sure, it's lifted with the body, but the electrical harness is no where close to being over stretched, kinked, etc.

Hope he has better luck with it.

If you put monkeys in a room with type writers you would get all of Shakespeares greatest works exactly to the word with proper grammar etc...if you want to wait long enough....the point is....stranger things have happened and it was probly one of those things....

PS don't listen to the dealer and their bull$hit excuses that the lift caused it....my dealer trys to cancel my warranty because of aftermarket mods...I told them go ahead and do that this truck will F#$king sit here cause you just bought it back, I promise you.

You should call the insurance company and file a report before it's to late. Their investigator will be able to determine what caused the fire.

Thanks... the claim has been filed. I just want to get to the bottom of it before the insurance company has to pay for something that was not their fault...
