Greetings everyone,

I have to say it feels good to be back in a chevy truck. I tend to regret every truck I get rid of because as soon as I do some task around the house comes up where I say to myself "I really wish I had a truck". So the plan is to keep this one till the wheels fall off, then put more wheels on it and keep going. I'm originally from east Tennessee (I go back to visit family quite often) but I'm living in Augusta, Georgia for the moment since I'm currently stationed here.

I got the truck because like I said I'm always needing one for one reason or another. I also wanted something that my son could ride around in and that I could take hunting and fishing. My little 2 seat roadster just didn't fit any of those descriptions. She's an 02 silverado 1500 Z71 that has just over 75k miles. Drives well but has a few things I gotta work out eventually. Number one on that list is finding why it won't go into 4Low. I have some ideas but I haven't been able to do much yet. So without further ado here are a few bad cell phone pictures. I haven't had the time to get my wife's shmancy camera out to take any yet.

It appears my recent purchase possibly needs a rebuilt transmission :) Not looking forward to this at all. And I feel like an idiot because I couldn't tell from my driving that it was acting weird.

Just got done talking to the techs. Its not shifting right into and out of second and into 4th. Almost like its slipping really bad. They're fairly certain the trans is on its way out. They have a fix cheaper than rebuilding/replacing but its pretty much delaying the inevitable. They're going to give me a price and warranty info on rebuilding and replacing with a new one and I guess I'll go from there. I don't blame GM though i blame the shady sleaze who didn't bother to tell me he had put a different trans into the truck. My fault for not recognizing the problem when I drove it but it still bugs me that I asked all the right questions and he lied to my face about it all.

nice looking truck, nothing like a GMT800.

maybe just suck it up and rebuild the trans or get a new one and then youll have a truck that will last you a long time. thats pretty early for the 4L60 in your truck to go... i beat the shit out of my 4L60 in my 01 and it still shifts perfectly with a little over 90,000 on it.

but then again the 4L60's average life is between 110,000 and 140,000 miles from what i have seen

Oh yeah don't get me wrong I love the truck. And while I wish I didn't have to dump a lot of money into it unexpectedly I am going have to depend on it for quite a while so I want it to be done right. Especially since my son will be in it from time to time with me I want it to be safe and reliable.

Yep been here for about 2 years so far. Probably got another 2 to go. Well the truck is officially under the knife but I got it a get well soon present waiting at the house that I ordered before I knew all this was going to happen. Nothing big just some Mossy Oak all weather floor mats from bass pro. :troll:

Well got it back and its running fine now. It ended up needing a lot of work but its fixed and done with now so time to get a whole lot of work and miles out of it.
